Filipendula rubra #2 (Queen of the Prairie)

$17.99 $34.72
Spectacular bright pink plumes top this large plant that can easily reach 6 feet tall.   It has deeply cut large bright green leaves that can often reach 8″ long.  They often appear on reddish stems.  Queen of the Prairie blooms in early summer after the flowers fade leaving the spent blooms ads additional interest.  This is a true showstopper for a native garden! It does best in rich, moist soil and needs average to wet conditions.   Leaves can become scorched if in too much sun and not enough moisture. A good plant for use in rain gardens. Prefers full sun but can tolerate some shade especially during a hot dry summer.  This large showy plant easily spreads by rhizomes and will self-seed.  It can be a bit of an overachiever for smaller gardens but does an excellent job naturalizing wet sunny areas.  It is capable of tolerating deer as well as clay soils. Medicinal uses. Full Sun to Part Shade Average to Wet Soil (OBL) 5-6′ Tall x 3-4′ Wide Blooms Early Summer Pink Blooms Zone 4 Ohio Native
