TWAINCOMMANDER is a little DOS-program. It can scan (JPEG, TIFF or Bitmap) images from any TWAIN-compliant device on the local machine. TWAINCOMMANDER is a very small program with a very small file size (just 23k of 1381k). It is free and you just have to download it from the web. The program is small and fast and consumes only 8MB of memory. You can create also batch-files with multiple TWAIN images. The program creates also those files from the command line. And you can of course read the images from TWAINCOMMANDER’s log file and put them into the batch file. The program is supporting multiple versions of Windows including Windows 98, Me, NT, 2000 and XP. You just have to download one version of it, which you want to use. Usage: TWAINCOMMANDER scans in an image or a batch of images with multiple TWAIN-devices into a file or files. The created files can be loaded into a Image Editor like Photoshop or Explorer windows. And you can even print the image files with an ole-printer which is installed on the same machine. The file selection is very easy with the menus on the top-left of the main form. To scan a single image you just have to select the image on the device and press the “Scan and save” button. It is possible to set the use of Windows to automatically select the scanner and to load the results into the Explorer. The program allows you to select a separate folder on the local hard drive to save the images. And to save the images on the hard drive or on a floppy disc or CD-Rom. The program supports JPEG, Bitmap, TIFF and G3/G4-format. There is no colour/grayscale support. The version of TWAINCOMMANDER depends on the version of Windows you are using. You have to download one version of the program which you want to use. In a DOS session you can start TWAINCOMMANDER with a call of “C:\TWAINCOMMANDER>” and in a VBScript you can use the line “TWAINCOMMANDER c:\mypic.jpg”. TWAINCOMMANDER is not supporting scanned images from webcams at the moment. You can
