What’s the best program for you?

Ultimately, your choice of Photoshop or Elements program depends on your budget, your needs, and the type of project you want to work on.

Photoshop is obviously the more powerful of the two programs and allows you to perform more complex functions. But it takes longer to learn than Elements because it has more options and features.

Start with a basic image and work with a major image-editing tool such as Elements, Photoshop, or both.

If you want to refine an image for that certain look, Photoshop may be the way to go.

If you need to perform minor cleanup with an easier program such as Elements, start there. It’s your standard-issue, general-purpose program.

On the other hand, if you want to refine a major image — or, heck, if you want to _do_ major editing — give Photoshop a try. It can handle any of the tasks that Elements can handle, and it has a lot more features and options.

In many cases, you need to decide whether to get Photoshop or Elements as a program, or if you want to get both.

## Handling Your Photos in Photoshop

The following steps can help you get started with editing photos. They can help you create, manipulate, and save your work.

Photoshop Elements

Elements is available in two editions: Photoshop Elements and Photoshop Elements 12. These are the only versions of Photoshop Elements available to download from Adobe.

Adds features to existing editing tools. This allows you to resize and crop images for use in social media. If you have the premium version of Photoshop, these features will be available for you to use.

Editing tools

Adobe is going to make change to its editing tools to make it easier for beginners. This is reflected in the level of complexness in the newest editions of Photoshop and Elements. This means that it is easier to use these tools, but it is also harder to understand what each tool does and how it works.

It should be noted that with Elements 12, most of these tools have been simplified, while most of the features have been removed. This was done to make it easier for beginners.

Most editing tools are available in Photoshop Elements 12:

• Photo: Basic editing tools such as brightness, saturation, exposure and contrast

• Brush: Basic editing tools such as lighten or darken

• Clear Clipboard: Clear the clipboard so that you can use it for new images

• Fill: This tool fills holes, details and reduces noise

• Mask: Allows you to mask out areas of an image

• Spot Healing Brush: This tool allows you to spot remove undesirable things

Basic features of editing tools are covered in the next paragraphs.

Brightness and contrast

Brightness and contrast

When you are using a digital camera, brightness and contrast can be adjusted to either a standard level or a high level. This allows you to change the image to look less dull.

The brightness and contrast tool is available in Elements 12 and allows you to adjust brightness and contrast from zero (black and white) to one hundred (whole, full color). This tool is less likely to result in poor image quality when used, but it will remove details from the image.

Using brightness and contrast

The brightness and contrast tool is in the photo editing tab at the bottom of the workspace. It is in the top left corner.

It can be used anywhere on the tool by clicking and dragging the cursor. The image in the workspace can be moved and scaled, but the brightness and contrast tool can only be used in the toolbox.

Make sure to set the tool

Thinking about buying a pre-loved grand piano? If you’ve never paid much attention to the sound of a piano, you might be surprised to learn that some grand pianos are less “piano-like” than others. And when it comes to buying a grand piano, it’s important to know which features to look for.

Grand pianos are among the loudest, heaviest, and least portable of pianos. They’re loud and heavy for a reason: That feature is one of the most important aspects of the sound of a grand piano. It can be difficult to fit a grand piano into a small apartment or into an elevator. Some experts say a traditional acoustic piano is best for beginners, while there are some who prefer an electric piano, because it’s lighter and quieter.

Ready to make the move? Good for you. There’s a wide variety of grand pianos available at your local big-box store, and some are even in good condition. As you start to look at pianos, understand this one simple fact: There’s a good chance that buying a piano pre-owned can save you hundreds of dollars.

What To Look For In A Grand Piano

If you plan to buy a pre-loved grand piano, be sure to find and read the following information.

Sound quality: Acoustically, there are many differences between a grand piano and a typical upright. For starters, a grand piano is much louder than a standard upright, and the sound is generally a bit brighter as well. Many former piano tuners report that they can hear the difference in sound between the two types of pianos, and it’s easy to tell them apart when they play.

Quality and condition: Typically, the pianos that big-box stores sell are good quality. However, many of the pianos in the pre-loved category are used or “gutted,” and some have been stripped of their soundboards. Decide how much of a finished product you want before you start shopping, or you may be looking at an acoustic piano that has been modified in some way. It’s hard to tell whether a grand piano is in

You can also use a Color Replacement tool to change the color of an entire photograph to another color.
There are several different types of brushes, some of which are more suited to certain tasks. Like text, a brush can be altered with different tools, including the Pen tool.
If you create a new image, you have some settings to set the look and color of a new photograph. See the previous section, “Creating a new image,” for details on this process.

This section explains each tool in detail.

To access brush effects, choose Edit > Stroke. The Stroke dialog box opens. In this dialog box, choose a brush size and width and a brush pressure. The brush pressure determines the amount of blur applied to the paint strokes. Figure 12.1 shows an example of the Stroke dialog box.

Using Brushes and Pencils

In addition to being used to paint new images, brushes and pencils are ideal tools for retouching damaged or corrupt images and for starting new images. When you begin a new image, your settings are displayed in the Preset Browser window. To change the settings, choose Edit > Presets.

You use the Pencil tool to draw and paint on your image. If you make a mistake, you can select and delete strokes and start over. You can also change the size, width, opacity, and color of the brush strokes.

From the Tools panel, you can use either the Brush or Pencil tool. The Tool Options (pencil icon) at the top of the Tools panel lets you choose whether you’re using the Brush or Pencil tool.

There are two different ways to use the brush tool. The first is called the “soft brush,” which is one of the most common methods of image manipulation. The second is the “hard brush,” which is the most precise type of brush.

**Use the Brush or Pencil Tool**

When you use the Brush tool, you paint new image layers by using patterns and colors to create a brush stroke. These color patterns can be used to create images, edit images, erase images, and enhance images.

With the Pencil tool, you draw strokes by clicking
